Rotary Club Joins Forces with UAC to Mark One Peace Day 2024
UAC students became prizewinners of the drawing contest
On September 21st, 2024, amidst the backdrop of recovery and rebuilding, Universal Aid for Children of Ukraine and the Rotary Club joined hands to revel in the One Peace Day in Odessa—a day imbued with significance for Ukrainian children and citizens alike. This celebration, a tradition since 2009, has taken on deeper resonance following the full-scale Russian invasion, highlighting resilience and the enduring spirit of peace.
Our students were in the center of attention, creative competition passed successfully, children were pleased to receive an award for their efforts. The achievements of our students were symbolized by the places of honor and the awarding of cherished gifts.
The children and their parents were eagerly awaiting the award ceremony for the winners of the Art of Peace art contest, organized jointly by the Rockville Rotary Club, the Odesa Rotary Club, and the UAC and Odesa Dream organizations.
All participants of the contest demonstrated their talent and creativity by putting their vision of peace and harmony on paper. The winners received well-deserved awards and shared the joy of victory with their parents, teachers and friends. This day was a real celebration for the young artists, who proved that even in difficult times, peace and mutual understanding remain the most important values.
Children plunged into the world of Harry Potter on a quest
The day imbued with magic and wizardry opened its arms to the young guests. The central event was an exciting quest that took them to the world of Harry Potter, a world where magic comes to life and miracles are commonplace.
Optical illusions creating amazing effects enveloped the quest with a mysterious atmosphere. Projections, creating the effect of movement, as if by themselves opened the doors to the enchanted rooms, and holographic characters, as if descended from the pages of favorite books, welcomed participants, asking riddles and testing their knowledge of the magical world.
Each step in the quest gave new emotions. Children, with genuine delight, solved puzzles, found keys to secret passages, overcame obstacles, and then, with pride and joy, received their rewards - magic wands, reminding of the miracles they had experienced.
A sinister wizard, surrounded by a yellow python, with an evil glint in his eyes, was trying to conquer the world with his evil sorcery. But here came a good magician, in whose hands shone a wand that radiated light. He was able to defeat evil and save the world from the dark forces.
The children watched the development of events with delight, their eyes were wide open, and their faces radiated genuine delight. Every trick, every effect of the competition between good and evil made their hearts beat faster.
The four rings danced in the air as if they had decided to perform in this extraordinary spectacle. The liquid nitrogen howled and released outlandish vapors that resembled the breath of a dragon. And the knot on the cord tangled and unraveled before the eyes of the children, as if an enchanted toy.
In addition, each child received a Harry Potter wand, which allowed them to immerse themselves even more in the atmosphere of magic. Their eyes shone with joy and their hearts fluttered with the unknown and magical. This day was full of magic, sorcery and unforgettable impressions. The children plunged into a world of fantasy where everything is possible and where good always wins.
Celebration Atmosphere and Dance Energy
On the stage, under the sounds of rhythmic music, a real extravaganza of grace and strength unfolded. Charming young dancers, dressed in costumes, easily performed complex acrobatic tricks, demonstrating extraordinary flexibility and grace.
Twines, flips, jumps - all performed with such effortless elegance that it was breathtaking. The little students, watching this spectacle, were truly motivated. The girlish energy of the dancers seemed to energize the young spectators, inspiring them to new achievements.
We are sincerely grateful to the young dancers for bringing such a special atmosphere to our holiday. Their performance was a real decoration of the event, which left unforgettable impressions in the hearts of our young guests. We thank them for their talent, energy and inspiration that they gave to all of us.
Letters from America Children felt support and international friendship
In a child's heart, like a fragile flower, hope blossoms when you receive something sincere and friendly. This was the feeling that filled the children's eyes of our students when they received letters from American children.
In every line of the letters they felt warmth and sincere support. Despite the thousands of kilometers that separated them, children from different countries were able to unite with tenderness and kindness.
The hearts of our students were touched by these warm words of support. They realized that even in an unknown country, among unfamiliar faces, there were those who sincerely wished them well and success.
It seemed as if these letters became a bridge that connected their souls, and the words of support reminded them that they are not alone in their aspirations and dreams.
The letters they received became a treasure for them to keep in their memories and inspire them to new achievements. They felt a true international friendship that broadened their horizons and showed the beauty of human relationships.
These letters symbolize that the world is full of kindness and caring, and that even in the most difficult times, you can find support and inspiration in the most unexpected places.
One Peace Day Magic from UAC and Rotary Club
After the last riddle was solved and the victory in the quest was won, a wave of joyful emotions swept through the hall. Children, shining with delight, shared their impressions with each other, and their guardians, not hiding their pride, watched their little heroes.
After the quest was over, our volunteers stood on the doorstep, smiling and holding juice and fragrant gingerbread. Each child received a sweet gift decorated with the inscription “UAC + Rotary Club Peace Day”.
Children, not hiding their joy, greedily drank delicious juice and crunched gingerbread with pleasure, telling each other about the brightest moments of the quest.
Parents and grandparents watching the scene couldn't hold back their smiles. “It was just an unforgettable day!” - exclaimed a grandmother, holding the hand of her granddaughter who was still reeling from the excitement.
The volunteers, seeing this atmosphere of warmth and joy, felt like they were part of something special. Their smiles grew even wider and a sense of satisfaction shone in their eyes that they were able to make this day a real celebration for the children.
The "UAC + Rotary Club" ended with a wave of positive emotions that stayed in the hearts of the children and their caregivers. The day was a reminder of the importance of friendship, cooperation and peace.
